To anyone living in a city in the UK.

Society has already broken down and the undead infestation devours all. Discuss what to do once the apocalypse has occurred.

Just wondering if anyone knows someone who owns weapons who lives in a city?

Just trying to get an idea really on how common it would be to encounter someone with a weapon where as in the US, guns are quite popular. Seems like those in the UK will end up using melee weapons the majority of the time.

To paraphrase in the US there is a gun behind every blade of grass.

When I saw images of racks full of guns in a family shopping centre, I admit I was shocked, It's crazy to see them just sitting there. Only weapon I've seen is a crossbow in Kitbag or Kickbag.

Ok any one can own a shotgun in the uk who hasnt got a criminal record on licence , upto a 3 shot auto , firearm licences for bullet guns even a .22 is a lot harder , contry to popular belief a high proprtion of police have access to guns , also noone is probably that far from some sort of millitary base. To be honest not to sold on the guns will save us in a city , due to the sheer amount of pissible zombie activity.

Let me explain , during the somme british troops advanced on german trenches thousands of yards long full of heavy machine guns with only open ground between the germans and the british , the british took the positions with admittedly heavy losses but they got there , now in a city you have less open ground the chances are you won't have HMG's with endless ammo so I believe , stealth is more likely to get you out the city , maybe going through the drains like the soviets in stalingrad.

I'm 19, how do I explain to my dad I want a shotgun? I've hidden my BOB in my cupboard so he can't find it, and how will I explain the shotgun to my university when I go this September? I'll be stuck in London, so I'm kind of fucked.

The Police actually have weapons? I've never seen the fuzz hold a firearm except in Birmingham airport where one officer had an SMG. I've seen the Police wield batons and possibly stun guns.

I don't know any military base near me, I'm in the middle of the countryside at the moment, in between Coventry and Birmingham. My village is surrounded by farms, fields and a forest, notable buildings in my village is a post office, school, small church and a phone box. Only 3 entrances to my village, two of them lead to country roads and one is connect to the next village which then leads to our town.

Stuck in london , umm lots of millitary in london , the london garrison has a lot of men , all have guns , you can have a shotgun licence at any age as long as you are responsible , but it must be kept securely in a safe , and yes a lot more police than you realise have access and can if needed carry guns , a gun is all that's going to save you , survival skills and fitness should be up there

@Lambentfeces
Check out a local skeet range, shoot a couple of times. Tell him how fun it is, which is true. Then you got an excellent reason to buy one.

I agree. Noone is going to blast a city full of zed. Being quiet and sneaky would be the way to go if one chose to stay in a population center, which in my opinion is sheer madness and tantamount to suicide. But having a gun to shoot your way out of trouble would be a necessity. Not to battle zed but to get away should one find oneself in a bit of a pickle.

A necessity here in the UK a lot of us civilians won't have , we will have to fight like our ancestors with bow , spear , sword , axe , the U.K. has many fortified buildings , and lots of water to use as defense , fitness and strength will be a high priority , guns are here but won't be easy to come by and ammo will be hard to get as well , we can get to the sea easy to leave this island but who wants that

We are doomed to become barbarians.

You know, Selfridges in Birmingham would be easy to climb and set a tent on the roof, I'm a good climber.

And how would you leave the UK to get to Ireland or mainland Europe? It takes at least 2 hours to get to Ireland in a ferry. All speed boats and other fast water transportation would be taken during the early stages of the ZA. Unless your pedaling to France on a bike in the Euro tunnel.
