Cane's plan

Postby DrCaneJr » Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:56 pm

This is still in early stages of thought, if you can think of anything I should add/remove, please tell me :D thanks.

Early STages
I spend most of my time at my house or close to it with Heather. I would get Heather and myself to take shelter inside my house where we can move the supplies in my house into my dad/mom's car. Joe lives next door to me and he is a pretty good weapons fighter in my opinion(mainly melee). Joe, who recently learned to fly tiny passenger jets of like 2-6 people, wants Heather, me, my dad(PMC), my mom(doctor), my 3 German Shepards, and a couple other friends of his to come with him to an airport. So by now we are probably about 10-15 hours into the infection and we are ready to move, the thing that sucks is living in NY the gun laws are strict. My dad and I used to have a lot of guns in North Carolina. So right now the most I have is a .22 rifle. My dad has a shotgun and a little 9 millimeter. What I lack in guns, I make up in melee weapons now, this includes knives, swords, copper pipe, wood baton, si, and escrima sticks. My mom would most likely want us to make a quick stop at the local pharmacy to get clean medical supplies, anti-bacterials, and anti-virals.

Mid stages
Now the media is final saying that it isn't just insane humans, but it is a disease of some kind. We now have plenty of medical equipment, but not enough guns. So the simple solution to this is, taking off of a dead cop or military troops. If there aren't any around, there is a gun store in a town about 20 minutes away so worst case scenario we have enough weapons to get there and get what we need plus my dad is friends with the owner. Now if we have finally got the extra weapons and ammo, we need to decide where we want to go. There are five of us so there can not be a tie. We are split between getting of this island or going east where there is farm land, small population, but a lot of guns, large houses, and large fences or hunkering down at Ben and Jerry's.
-Option get off the island: Joe learned to fly small planes, in the scenario that Joe isn't home or alive, my friend Sean is in the process of learning to fly helicopters so if the bridges are gone, it is better than swimming and being in the open. After that there is no way to get off the island unless we utterly have to.
-Option go east: My dad works with this women who breeds dogs out east, her husband and herself own a large collection of rifles and shotguns. So we can go there by car, the disadvantage is the only way there is a highway with woods on each side. If we manage to get out there, there is a lot of farmland and a low amount of people that are armed to the teeth.
-Option Ben and Jerry's: We park the cars and before doing anything we fill them up at the gas station that B&J owns next to the store. Clearing the store would be long and tedious, but it can be done. Once and if we have control of the building, we open up the first large door in front of the store. which is big enough to fit in Joe's jeep and my family's Xterra. Then we close those doors. Next we open up the large metal door blocking the entrance to let the cars inside the building. From there we still have a day or two on the grid so we turn all the meat inside the building into jerky. If the power is out, then we will use the generators they have inside powered by gas from the gas station.

Late stage
The infection is spreading so fast, almost all parts of the worlds feel it. By now the one entrance to the B&J's if we chose this option is barricaded with the building supply section and the broken down cars in the parking lot. We now just have to hunker down wherever we want to go and survive basically.

Please tell me what you think and anything i should add/remove. Thank you for your time :)

Your plan seems to rely on gathering things you need after everything has gone to hell in a handbasket. It's best to have those items beforehand. You also seem to rely alot on moving to places that may not want you or take you in. Let's take the gunshop for example. It's proven that when society breaks down social norms go out the wondow. The gunshop owner may not let you in or even sell you the guns and ammunition you need. So you're left with either trying to take those items by force (and remember, he has all the guns) or going without them. Airports would also be a bad idea. Everyone who owns a plane will be hitting the pumps and flying off to God-knows-where. Runways and taxiways could be the sceenes of accidents with people frantically trying to unass the area. If you were able to depart then the arrival airport may face the same problems. There will most likely be no air traffic contreollers to sort things out so each flight would have to make traffic reports and rely on every other flight to do the same. That's a tall order for panicking people and will doubtless result in fatalities and closed runways when aircraft begin running into each other. Helicopters would be better, but they present a problem of their own. Maintenance is high as well as full consumption and you'd need a fairly good sized one to carry all the people and supplies you have in your plan. Those take greater skill to fly than the small two and foour place birds that students learn in. I for one would not want to be in a helicopter with a newly minted pilot who ahdn't been trained on the bird. That's an accident that will most likely happen. You also have a store listed as a place to take over and barricade. What about the stores owners? What do you do about the other people who are sure to be there looting the place? There's too much uncertainty and waiting to make your plan truly viable. Remember, if you've thought of it others have also.

I can't really add much, Rampdog said most things. Make sure you got as many items before hand. Large airports are crowed and will have scenes of slaughter. Smaller, non-commercial airports might be better but you still have to be in luck.

Thanks for the advice, I will definitely look into what you said rampdog. I plan on going into Ben and Jerry's tomorrow to stock up on items(They sell things cheap and in bulk, you need to have a membership with them to buy their products.) I think I will get a good bit of rice, any food suggestions?

Also I left out one thing, if worst came to worst and I could not get any guns, my dad still owns a good bit of guns that we have to leave in North Carolina when we moved. He put them in a storage container in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina.

Dry and canned goods mostly if you plan on staying put.

Those guns won't help much if you can't get to them. They may as well be on the far side of the moon.

Well the guns and ammo should be coming back up soon once my dad finds a range in which he can qualify under HR218 since he is a retired cop.

I don't know about bunkering down in or "liberating" supplies from an icecream shop. I'm not sure how much usefull stuff there would be there.

Ben and Jerry's is a store in New York that sells wholesale items. They refer to themselves as BJ's.
