There's a "WTF" passage in every book.
Remember, The Great War was changed to WW1 after WW2.
What's the reason for an Old and New Testament?

The Old Testament is the name given to the twenty four canonical books the the Jewish Masoretic Text by Christianity. It can be broken down into the Pentateuch (the Mosaic Law), the History Books, the Wisdom Books, and the Prophets. The New Testament are the books dealing strictly with Christ and the beginnings of the Christian Church. It's basically divided into the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), the Epistles (or letters) which would include the Acts of the Apostles, and the the Book of Revelation of St. John.

So I still don't buy into the prophecy thing. Just be a bearer of food, water and ammo.

You lost me, explain please....

@ Sarge
I've also heard the New Testament was to correct errors in Christian beliefs. Have you heard that before?
Also.....Aren't some passages the same in Old and New Testament?
The "Eye for an Eye" thing was missing in the New Testament, right?
Are you a church regular Sarge, or just a reader?

As a kid I had a few Mormon friends and dated a few gals from that church.
And you know how those repressed teens can be. Tee-Hee.
Here's the kicker.......all Mormon kids (From the age of ten until 17 must attend a class every school day BEFORE going to school to eliminate "Inpure Thoughts". While dating one gal, her parents insisted I attend as well.

Well the way I understood the OP was that someone would try to say that they were chosen by God to lead the new world and stuff like that. I don't believe in that and if it was real it doesn't matter to me anyways. I just want food, water and ammo.

Well I doubt there are many in the community who would fall for such fallacies. It's more the rest of the world you need to worry about.

Well the ones that fall into the catagory are just going to have to deal with it on their own. I doubt I will see the whole world up and running again if I expierience the ZPAW. As for me and my people, there will be none of that. And if there is, it will mean nothing and we will not revolve our days around what the "Chosen" one says.

This is true. The Epistles were letters written to the early church in different cities to set belief, doctrines and adminish them for their practices. They set the tone for the early formation and practices of the Church. And remember, those letters were written by those who knew Christ or were assitants to the Apostles.

Underdude wrote:Also.....Aren't some passages the same in Old and New Testament?

In the strictest sense both books are the same. Many people think there's a difference between the Old and New, but there really isn't. Christ said He came not to change the Law but to fulfill it. He actually upheld the Law and admiinished the Jewish leaders of the day for changing it.

Underdude wrote:The "Eye for an Eye" thing was missing in the New Testament, right?

Kinda sorta. Remember, Christ ran the moneychangers out of the Temple. He also told his followers to procure a sword. He was a peace lover, but not above fighting for what was right. So contrary to the belief of many church leftists, Christ was not a liberal. Remember the passage, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone?" In a way that is "eye for an eye" for "As they judge so shall they be judged."

Not really. I attend on occassion. But I have studied under some very smart men (Pastors, Priests) and read many of the Church greats in an attempt to understand what Christianity was really about. I ahve a book case full of books on theology, apologetics, philosophy, and the religious books, bibles if you will, of the great religions.
